Athletistic/Hockey. The head of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Luc Tardif, expressed the view that the organization should be free from any pressure and make decisions on the withdrawal of the national teams of Russia and Belarus on its own.

“We have to be outside political pressure. If we make decisions under pressure, then it will be everywhere,” said Scott Wheeler, journalist at The Athletic, quoting Tardif on his Twitter page.

In February 2022, the IIHF Council suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from international tournaments indefinitely. In May, the suspension was extended until 2023.
