Captain and Striker “Capitals of Washington” Alexander Ovechkin said he can’t wait to be an All-Star NHL which will take place in Florida.
Earlier, the NHL press service announced the first 32 players selected to participate in the All-Star Game. For Ovechkin, this is the 13th call-up to the NHL All-Star Game, a record for his club.
“Last year I contracted the coronavirus, so unfortunately I couldn’t go to Vegas for the NHL All-Star Game. But this time I’ll be in Florida. It’s always a pleasure to get selected for the All-Star Game. I’m going to hang out with the best players in the league that I know, talk to them, hang out on the ice and have fun,” Ovechkin quotes washington hockey now .
Ovechkin also recalled his first-ever All-Star selection in 2007 and the emotions he went through at the time.
“The first time was another dream come true, you know? You want to be part of it, you want to feel the atmosphere, you want to feel what it’s like to be at the All-Star Game.
When you are chosen, it is a special moment. It means the league likes you, the fans like you and it’s fun,” added the Russian.
The 2023 All-Star Game will take place in Florida on February 4.
