Svechnikov threw between the shields Shesterkina. Draisaitl breaks Gretzky’s record

Carolina has confirmed home team status for the current playoffs. The Hurricanes have won all seven home games, although they have lost all of them away so far.

Last night they confidently faced Rangers, having an advantage throughout the game, throwing the opponents exactly twice (34:17). Although the score was slippery almost until the very end: six minutes before the final siren, the score was 2:1.

Andrey Svechnikov reassured New Yorkers, who went one-on-one with Shesterkin and threw him between the shields.

The Rangers, to reach the conference finals, must accomplish the feat of winning first at home, then also in Carolina.

However, in the first round, the New Yorkers have already done the same, recovering with a score of 1:3 in the series with Pittsburgh.

Artemiy Panarin is still scoreless in the series against Carolina, but today he made a pass to Mika Zibanejad, who scored for the third game in a row.

But in the Canadian confrontation, everything is decided. “Edmonton” and “Calgary” again delivered an assist shootout, the epitome of which was a segment midway through the second period. In 70 seconds of pure time, the score went from 2:2 to 4:4. Admittedly, the rivals stopped there, and then the fate of the series was decided in overtime. In the 6th minute of the fourth period, Connor McDavid brought victory to Edmonton and access to the conference finals.

For the first time in eight games, McDavid scored less than two points and failed to tie Gretzky’s record for longest streak with more than 2 points. However, the game-winning goal in overtime is no less cool.

But Leon Draisaitl wins three or more points in the fifth game in a row. Nobody did that in the Stanley Cup. In the series against Calgary, the German striker has two goals and 15 assists. By the way, this is also a record for the number of effective passes in a series, even Gretzky had only 14. It is difficult to imagine what figure Draisaitl would have reached if the series with Calgary had dragged on length.

A pair of super hitters, the Oilers, share the lead in the tournament scoring charts with identical indicators of 26 (7 + 19) points.

Edmonton reached the conference final for the first time since 2006 and is now awaiting an opponent from the Colorado-St. Louis pair. There, the score is 3-2 in favor of Colorado, but the game will be played at the Blues site tonight.
