Olympic champion – about Kharlamov: “Hot Spanish blood, he liked to plow like an animal”

Two-time Olympic hockey champion Valeria Kharlamov a brilliant character was combined with high efficiency, such an opinion was expressed by the former striker of Spartak and the USSR national team Viktor Shalimov .

– A warm-blooded Spaniard, he also liked to work, to plow like an animal. Everything came together. It’s a pity for the youngsters if the coach says: “Go and play Chebarkul a bit, then we’ll give you back.” He showed he had character. He proved that he could play, returned to the leading club of the USSR, became the leader not only of CSKA, but also of world hockey.

He had a remarkable quality – he was a conductor between veterans and young people. Everyone was drawn to him, he was an attractive force in terms of acting and character.

How can you compare who is better – Kharlamov or Bobby Hull? Kharlamov is Kharlamov. He remained in the history of our hockey, – said the 1976 Olympic champion Shalimov on the air of All for the Match! on the channel.

Kharlamov died on August 27, 1981 in a car accident. The name of the 2005 double Olympic champion has been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
