Our hockey players suffered a third defeat in Lake Placid
Student national ice hockey team of Ukraine (U-25) lost Japan in the match on Universiade in Lake Placid (USA) and one round before the finish of the group stage lost the chance to reach the semi-finals.
Our hockey players lost the first period 0:2 and then caught up with the Japanese throughout the match. After the pucks of Paliychuk and Panchenko, the Ukrainians reduced the gap to a minimum, but failed to even the score and eventually lost – 2:4.
The Ukrainian national team, after four matches, has four points and fourth place in group A. On January 20, in the final match against the Czech Republic, Ukrainians will play for their prestige and third place in the group. And the Czechs, if they win, can bypass Japan and reach the semi-finals.
Recall that in the third round of the Universiade-2023 tournament, Ukraine defeated Sweden – 12:2. At the start of the Universiade hockey tournament, Ukraine lost to Canada – 1:6. Also, the blue-yellows lost to Latvia in overtime (2:3).
