On Tuesday, Washington lost on the road to Colorado 2-3, Ovechkin scored in the 50th minute. This puck became the 811th forward in the NHL, closing the gap on Wayne Gretzky’s all-time leading scorer to 83 goals. Ovechkin missed the match against Vegas on January 21 (2:6).
– I can’t say I’m 100% ready, but I could play. No one wants to miss a game no matter what. But yeah, it’s hard. The guys got up and played well. Unfortunately, we didn’t score another goal, but we put in a lot of effort and fought hard,” Ovechkin told the NHL website.
Ovechkin has 53 points (31 goals and 22 assists) in 49 games this season.
