‘Mikheev gave his all, but he’s not doing well’ – Vancouver coach on Russian’s injury

Head Coach”Vancouver » Rick Toquet commented on the situation with the injury of the Russian striker Ilya Mikheev who will miss the rest of the season.

Earlier, the club’s general manager Patrick Allvin said the Russian won’t play again this season due to an injury suffered in the fall. We’re talking cruciate knee ligament surgery – the Canucks are hoping the Russian won’t return until training camp before the start of next season.

– Mikheev gave his all, but he is not well. He is a very great hockey player. We are using these six months to heal him. Mikheev has character. He wanted to keep playing, that means a lot, but I want him to be healthy,” Tocquet told the NHL press office.

This season, 28-year-old Mikheev has scored 28 points (13+15) in 46 games. On Friday, the hockey player played 17 minutes in the next NHL regular season game against Columbus (5:2) and scored a goal.

The striker’s agent Dan Milstein also told that the injury has been known for a long time and Mikheev ‘has actually spent this season on one leg’.
