Head Coach Russian team hockey Alexei Zhamnov welcomed the remarks of the President IOC Thomas Bach on the possible admission of national athletes to international competitions, but believes that before the 2026 Winter Olympics the situation may change.
On Wednesday, the IOC said it would consider admitting neutral Russian and Belarusian athletes who do not actively support the CBO to world starts. The head of the committee, Thomas Bach, admitted that Russians and Belarusians could participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in a neutral status.
– It is good that the situation on the part of the IOC has begun to improve, but before the Winter Olympics everything can still change. The team continues to work on preparing for future Olympics, despite all the statements and changes, Zhamnov told Sport24.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
