Canadian hockey analyst Don Cherry backed Russian ‘Washington Capitals’ striker Alexandra Ovechkina who has come under fire in Canada for posting a photo with Russian President Vladimir Putin on social media.
Earlier, Canadian media reported that the Russian may be banned from entering the country.
Leave him alone, he’s a hockey player. He has nothing to do with the special operation in Ukraine. Ovechkin does not participate in it.
The same crowd followed me. They don’t care about hockey, it’s not even hockey. Ovechkin is a great hockey player and a wonderful person. He doesn’t deserve that kind of treatment.
I criticized his game, but I was never personal. Thing is, this guy who is aiming for Wayne (Gretzky) goalscoring record (894) is playing hard. This lawsuit should be in the spotlight, — quote Cherry’s words Toronto Sun .
