Head Coach Severstal Andrei Razin explained how his team manages to beat the best clubs in KHL .
On Friday, Severstal beat Lokomotiv in the Fonbet home match of the KHL Championship (3:0). In the previous two meetings, the Cherepovites confidently beat CSKA and Metallurg, also with a difference of three goals.
– Today, pride wins, a great team victory, and even with a “cookie”. The majority worked well – they scored two goals in uneven lineups. Only positive, all with a victory. Lokomotiv have a very strong squad with hardly any weaknesses. And we have a lot of wounded and sick. Today the squad for the game was barely formed, the reserve goalkeeper was brought in from Almaz to apply for the game. Such a victory is worth a lot, the guys did their best with a full house in the arena.
– In the last matches you have already beaten three top teams. What makes it possible?
It doesn’t matter if it’s great or not great. If you look at the season, we have finished three games for SKA outside regular time. We won two out of three games with CSKA. We took half the points against Lokomotiv in five matches. With “Torpedo”, which suddenly became the top this season, we also have approximately the same number. For us who are in the lead, who are not in the lead, in every game we give the best. The guys understand that winning over CSKA or Kunlun are the same two points that will help us get into the playoffs,” correspondent quoted Razin as saying.
Severstal is seventh in the KHL Western Conference standings with 62 points.
