Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin did not answer the question about performance at the Olympics and World Hockey Championship, forwarding it to National Hockey League (NHL) chief Gary Bettman.
Sunday night, Ovechkin, 37, took part in the NHL All-Star Game with the Capital Division team. His team lost to the Atlantic Division team in the semifinals (6:10), Ovechkin scored 3 points (1+2). After the match, journalists asked the Russian about the possibility of participating in the Winter Olympics and world championships.
“You should ask Gary Bettman about that. Not me. Contact Gary with this question,” the Capitals press office quoted Ovechkin as saying.
Ovechkin is the second-highest scorer in NHL history (812 goals), behind only Wayne Gretzky (894 goals).
