The head coach S.K.A. Romain Rotenberg shared his emotions at the awarding of the Order of Honor.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding Rotenberg.
– I learned the awarding of the Order of Honor directly on the ice – we had a training session in Magnitogorsk before an important match with Metallurg.
Now my phone is breaking – many congratulations. Thank you to everyone who called and wrote – I really want to thank everyone.
This award is a common merit of all those who were close to our team at Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 — coaches, staff, every hockey player, those who were sick and helped us. I want to especially thank the people who supported the whole team and me personally – Alexei Borisovich Miller for his incredible help in the development of St. Petersburg and all of Russian hockey; Arkady Romanovich Rotenberg for his inspiring personal example and for his excellent work for the benefit of our beloved sport; Vladislav Alexandrovitch Tretyak for his experience, invaluable knowledge and daily support.
Congratulations to our legends – Pavel Bure, Vyacheslav Starshinov and Alexei Zhamnov – I’m proud that we received awards on the same day. They are true legends who have done and are doing a lot for the development of our hockey.
Furthermore, I would like to thank Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for his attention to our favorite sport. It is thanks to you that Russian hockey survived difficult times and regained its former glory. We are winning again at World Championships and Olympic Games, every year we have new talents, and our internal championship becomes more interesting and brighter every season.
At the same time, you cannot relax for even a minute – the work continues and continues daily. Special attention is paid to our future – the children, who will soon become our new stars. One of those centers where they are working painstakingly on our future is Sirius in Sochi. I’m sure the future glory of our hockey was born there. Forward, towards new victories!
