Kazansky “AK Bars” won Nizhnekamsk “Neftekhimik” in the Fonbet game of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) championship.
The meeting took place in Nizhnekamsk and ended with the score 4:3 in favor of the guests. Pucks among the winners were thrown by Dmitry Kagarlitsky (20th minute), Vadim Shipachev (42), Vyacheslav Voinov (46) and Dmitry Yudin (46). The hosts scored Pavel Poryadin (11), Andrey Belozerov (12) and Vyacheslav Leshchenko (54).
With this victory, Ak Bars secured a ticket to the KHL playoffs, with 79 points the club leads the Eastern Conference standings. Neftekhimik (61) is in ninth place.
In the next game, Ak Bars will host Amur Khabarovsk on their ice, while Neftekhimik will face Admiral Vladivostok at home. Both meetings will take place on February 9.
In a parallel match, Severstal Cherepovets lost at home to Kunlun Red Star Beijing – 2:3 (0:1, 0:1, 2:1). Tyler Vaughn (15), Brandon Yip (22) and Tomas Yurcho (45) were only answered by the hosts with accurate shots from Dmitry Moiseev (53) and Yegor Morozov (59).
Despite the victory, “Kunlun” after this game lost the chance to reach the KHL playoffs. The Chinese club is in 10th place in the West with 47 points.
