Magnitogorsk head coach “Metallurgist” Ilya Vorobiev called his team’s mistakes on the “patch” the reason for the loss of “Vityaz” in the Fonbet KHL Championship game.
On Thursday, Magnitogorsk lost at home to the Moscow region team in extra time with the score 4-5 (1:1, 2:3, 1:0, 0:1). Meanwhile, the hosts were twice in the lead in the encounter but failed to hold the advantage.
“In the second period we conceded optional goals, and in the third period we scored more than one goal,” Vorobyov said. – We attacked a lot, but the chances didn’t convert. It’s good that in the end they evened the score. In overtime, the puck was not intercepted and missed the first shift.
– For the first time this year, Metallurg scored four goals, but your team haven’t conceded five goals since the fall. Why didn’t you play reliably in defence?
– There were individual errors with almost every goal. Although we paid attention to the fact that Vityaz constantly throws pucks at the nickel. But we made mistakes and every mistake cost us a goal. At first, there were too many gears in the skates.
Metallurg is third in the KHL Eastern Conference table with 75 points.
