CSKA Moscow striker Prokhor Poltapov told Sport24 the role of his mother in his sporting career.
– Does your mother actively interfere in your life as a hockey player?
– Of course! She introduced me to hockey when I was two years old.
– Why so early?
– I was a hyperactive child. They didn’t take him anywhere else. So they let me go to the rink and I started skating. Then “I want-I want”.
“And now how?”
Mom never misses a game. Always with me. She played a huge role in my hockey and in everyday life. She was the person who took me to training, she devoted all her time to me.
– Did you ever tell yourself to study better than hockey?
– She spoke. I remember how I played very badly, I didn’t score two balls, we lost against a team at the bottom of the table. And she said to me, “Maybe you better teach biology?” I’m like, “No.” It was my mother who wanted to piss me off.
– Now more often criticize or praise?
She knows when to hit and when not to hit. We are both hot-tempered, we like to quarrel. But we try to control ourselves.
This season, 20-year-old Poltapov has played 49 games for CSKA, scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists.
