Beginner New York Rangers Russian Vladimir Tarasenko called his trade to the team a chance to win the Stanley Cup.
On Thursday, Tarasenko, 31, joined the St. Louis Rangers in a trade. The Russian will make his debut for the team on the same line as Artemy Panarin in the game against Seattle on Friday.
“There was no way I would stay in St. Louis. I knew I would be traded. I spoke to Panarin, the Rangers wanted me here. I want that too. It’s a chance to win the Stanley Cup again, – journalist Molly Walker quotes Tarasenko.
Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant said he’s counting on Tarasenko’s productivity for the rest of the season.
– I want him to throw the puck in the goal, work hard. From time to time it showed large bursts, but that was not enough. Let’s see what he does,” added Gallan.
Tarasenko has been playing for St. Louis since 2013, in the 2018/19 season he won the Stanley Cup. In total, Tarasenko has made 644 appearances for the Blues, scoring 553 (262+291) points. In the playoffs, the Russian scored 41 goals and provided 19 assists in 90 games.
