Athletistic/Hockey. Slovan’s Russian striker Nikita Shcherbak has opened up about the problems he faced getting a work visa while playing in the Czech Republic last season. The striker played for Mountfield Hradec Kralove until September 2022 when he was unable to renew his contract due to problems getting a new work visa.

  • The head of the Czech Hockey Federation opposed the return of Russian athletes

“I was in contact with the club for a few months. I needed a Slovak visa. I live in Montreal, from where I had to go to Ottawa, where I received the necessary documents to enter the the country.

My visa in the Czech Republic has not been extended. I don’t know what kind of rules the country has for Russian citizens in this matter. Nothing could be done, I think that’s unfair to some extent. It’s politics,” Shcherbak said as quoted by Sport Aktuality.
