Russian forward and Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin will miss the NHL regular season game against “Carolina Hurricanes” for family reasons, said Capital City team general manager Brian McLellan.
The match will take place on February 14 in Washington.
“Ovechkin will not be with the team, he will take care of family matters and the health of a loved one,” the club’s press service reports on Twitter.
This season, the 37-year-old Russian has scored 32 goals and provided 22 assists in 54 games.
Ovechkin with 812 goals is second in the list of top scorers in history NHL just behind Wayne Gretzky (894).
