“He gave me everything.” Alexander Ovechkin returned to “Washington” and spoke about the death of his father

Forward “Washington” Alexander Ovechkin said his father Mikhail had always helped him in life and his energy and smile would be missed by those around him.

Ovechkin arrived in Moscow last week after his father Mikhail was hospitalized. Ovechkin Sr. died on February 15, he died at the age of 72 after a long illness. Alexander Ovechkin returned to the United States on February 22.

– We arrived recently, I will try to get back on the ice and do everything I can. It’s life, the week has been very hard. It seems to me that in my career in the NHL, this is the most difficult situation for me. But we are moving forward.

Now I’m back in the team and I see the smiles of the guys. A completely different atmosphere, which is different from the one that prevailed in recent days. My father gave me everything, his health, his time. He traveled all over the world with me and was at every practice session when he got the chance.

He had a great sense of humor. Even when he didn’t understand people, he always tried to ask for something. People knew the father, they will miss his smile. They will miss his energy,” Ovechkin told club television.

“Washington” in the next NHL game will meet “Anaheim”.
