Offensive Danis Zaripov will not be able to live without hockey and will be close to the match even after the end of his career, believes Irek Gimaev, eight-time champion of the USSR.
Six-time national champion Zaripov, 41, announced his retirement on Friday and played a farewell match with “Ak Barsa” in which Kazan lost to Metallurg – 3:6.
– A big thank you to Danis for the years spent in hockey. Being already an adult player, a veteran, he showed many young people an example of his attitude towards this sport, his love. I think he gave everything to the game. I’m very happy with his brilliant and beautiful career. I remember how he played in Magnitogorsk, I remember how they played with Morozov in Kazan. I feel like it was a long time ago, but I remember everything. Many thanks to him. God forbid that everything goes well for him.
I understand that he cannot live without hockey. He will always be next to the game, I think so, – said Gimaev to the “Championship”.
Zaripov is a three-time world champion and five-time Gagarin Cup winner (three times with Ak Bars, twice with Metallurg).
