Cherepovets Severstal head coach Andrei Razin said that the victory over CSKA Moscow in the KHL playoff game was the most difficult in his coaching biography.
On Saturday, Severstal in Moscow defeated CSKA in the second extra time of the second game of the first round of the Gagarin Cup – 3:2 and tied the score in the series (1-1).
– For me, this is the most difficult game of my coaching career. Emotions are positive, thank you guys. We caught a lot of pucks on ourselves. Although we changed tactics, we had to change models. Also, the game winning percentage improved a lot and that was the key to success. It is expensive for us to survive in such a match with CSKA.
Why have we conceded two goals in a row? The problem with our team is that, conceding the first goal, we often have the second behind him. But that’s the price of youth. It’s good that they played.
I’m not going to go into the details of what we’ve changed since the first game. (CSKA coach) Sergey Fedorov will see it. Let him guess.
Why has this match become the most difficult in a coaching career? Because we spent five periods against the champions of Russia, the holders of the Gagarin Cup. And we won. I only thought so.
Why have we won four out of six games against CSKA this season? I wouldn’t compare it to regular season games, they were all different. At the very beginning, CSKA had a post-league season, and they were in poor physical condition. The winning match in Moscow – we scored two goals in an empty net there. And the game itself was the same as today, and we defended a lot. Well, we closed the regular season with a fun game, when we took out a lot of guys who didn’t get into the team, and they gave their all, unlike CSKA players, ”reports the correspondent in the words of Razin.
The teams will play the third game of the series in Cherepovets on March 6.
