Torpedo Head Coach Igor Larionov knows the Russian mentality and can seduce, ex-coach of Avangard Bob Hartley also charismatic, the Olympic champion and double world champion told Sport24 Ilya Kovalchuk .
– Which coaching style is closest to you – smart, like Larionov’s, or something harder, like Bob Hartley’s?
– I wouldn’t say that Bob Hartley is some kind of tyrant. He’s just a demanding coach. I think Igor Nikolaevich is the same. It is unlikely that in Torpedo it allows players to do whatever they want. Either way, order beats class. The little things are very important in hockey, especially in the playoffs. It’s just that Bob is very detailed every moment. He devotes a lot of time to young people – he wants them to grow and develop. I learned to play good hockey. And not just play, but win. For him it is very important. I think Igor has the same philosophy. Only one is Canadian, the other is Russian. Larionov knows our mentality and can convince us. Hartley is also very charismatic, he spoke with all the guys. It’s just that the amount of information he tried to give seemed excessive to many. But for those guys who played in America, it was no surprise.
