Before “Torpedo” Sergei Goncharuk after beating Dynamo Moscow in the fourth game of the Gagarin Cup first round, he said the Nizhny Novgorod side owed their success to strong fan support.
On Wednesday, Torpedo beat Dynamo Moscow in extra time – 5:4 and tied the series score – 2-2.
“It turned out to be a good sparring match,” Goncharuk said. We didn’t lower our heads after conceding two quick goals. We managed to come back and then we played our own hockey and led the game to victory.
– How did you prepare for overtime, after conceding the puck late in the third period?
– Failed, but failed, that’s fine. We walked into the locker room, calmed down, rested and tuned into the fourth period. You can’t save your strength in the playoffs, we fought until the end.
– Have you heard that CSKA Severstal scored nine goals?
– Wow! But this playoff is usually unusual. The guys and I at the hotel watched as Neftekhimik tied the game in the series with Ak Bars. An interesting first round is obtained.
– What would you say to the fans when the score was 2-2 in the series?
– After each match, I bow to the fans. Without them, we wouldn’t have gained much. Nizhny Novgorod fans are the fiercest. Crazy support is waiting for us at home. The main thing is that the “Ice” lasted.
The fifth match between Torpedo and Dynamo Moscow will take place on March 10 in Nizhny Novgorod.
