Malkin set Pittsburgh’s record for most NHL penalty minutes

Russian striker “Pittsburgh” Yevgeny Malkin led club history in NHL penalty minutes.

In the last game of the regular season with the New York Islanders (3:4 OT), the Russian got a small penalty for delaying an opponent. Thus, he brought the total number of penalty minutes in the “Pittsburgh” to 1050.

Previously, the club record was held by forward Kevin Stevens (1048), who played for Pittsburgh from 1987 to 1995 and again from 2000 to 2002.

Among current Pittsburgh Pittsburgh players, Sidney Crosby is second in penalty minutes with 777, and Chris Letang is third with 687.

This season, the 36-year-old Malkin has played 64 games and scored 67 (23 goals + 44) points with 42 penalty minutes.
