CSKA want to sign Ivan Prosvetov
There are several notable moments in this story. First of all, Ivan Prosvetov became the 11th Russian goalkeeper in this championship. This is an NHL record that has now been repeated and set last year. This suggests that Russian goalkeepers are a real powerhouse in the strongest league in the world.
If we rank Russian goalkeepers in this championship according to the number of wins, we will get the following list: Andrey Vasilevsky (29), Igor Shesterkin (28), Alexander Georgiev (27), Ilya Samsonov and Ilya Sorokin (23 each ), Sergey Bobrovsky (20), Petr Kochetkov and Semyon Varlamov (11 each), Daniil Tarasov (2), Ivan Prosvetov (1) and Yaroslav Askarov (0).
And what did the stats look like last season? Andrei Vasilevsky and Sergei Bobrovsky (39 each), Igor Shesterkin (36), Ilya Sorokin (26), Ilya Samsonov (23), Alexander Georgiev (15), Semyon Varlamov (10), Petr Kochetkov and Anton Khudobin (3 each), Ivan Prosvetov and Daniil Tarasov (by zeros).
Second, on July 19, 2020, CSKA gave Sochi the rights of goalkeeper Mikhail Berdin, in exchange for the rights of goalkeeper Ivan Prosvetov. In this playoff, CSKA played two goalkeepers: Alexander Sharychenkov saved an average of 87.7% of shots, and Adam Reideborn – 88.9%.
According to our information, CSKA had long wanted to sign a contract with Prosvetov. His contract with Arizona ends after this season. But as Ivan clarified in an interview with our colleague Vladimir Dekhtyarev, he is in no rush to join the KHL…
“Come to Stupino – I’ll offer you a barbecue!”
– How do you feel after winning the first victory of your NHL career?
“I have been waiting for this for less than four years. I didn’t play much in the league at that time…
– Only five matches at the start.
– But this is what you dream of since childhood – to play in the NHL, to win. And finally I managed to do it. Of course, I wanted to play a little better. Maybe it needed to clean up a few more moments in the game somewhere. But in general I am very satisfied – and it took me a long time to get there.
“You didn’t have two minutes to make a cracker,” Nashville forward Cody Glass hit your mark.
– When I entered the third period, I was already thinking about the need to dry up this match. But it happened like that. It’s a little embarrassing, but the victory brightened everything up. This moment showed that there is still work to be done. Of course, it’s a bit embarrassing. But that’s okay.
– You were recognized as the best player of the game in the Arizona locker room. What did the partners say?
– Many guys come to congratulate. Especially those who knew how far I got there. Christian Fischer, Lawson Cruz – all the guys that have been on the team for the last four years when I’ve been called up periodically. So now I was very happy to play in the NHL again. And you know, everyone loves a winner.
What do you remember from Nashville?
They have a very good majority. We entered six deletions. Roman Yosi is an excellent defenseman who moves the puck well on the blue line and always creates dangerous chances. While Nashville didn’t convert a single majority, they created plenty of scoring opportunities. Thank you to our defenders and to the whole minority brigade, who played very well. Hence the result.
– Did the Arizona coach personally say anything to you after the game?
– The goalkeeping coach just gave the praise. The head coach also congratulated.
– Will there be some kind of dinner?
– When I’m in Stupino out of season, I’ll cover a clearing for you. Let’s BBQ!
“After the season, we will sit down at the negotiating table”
– And after? What plans does the management of the Coyotes have for you?
– It’s hard to say. But yeah, I’m going to the road game against Colorado. Game the day after tomorrow. So far so good, but we’ll see how it evolves.
– After this season, your contract with Arizona ends at $0.75 million per year. So far, there has been no extension? After all, the Coyotes championship will end soon.
As for how this will end, I don’t know yet. We will fight again! I will play both the NHL and the AHL for Tucson. The season continues and you never know where it will turn. Also, the team is playing well now.
As for me, of course, the negotiations have not yet been conducted. Everything will be decided at the end of the season, and we will decide, we will sit at the negotiating table, we will arrive at the right figures. It’s a business, so you’ll have to negotiate. And for now, everything remains as is.
– Do you plan to continue your career in the NHL?
– Yes, of course, this is my dream – to do everything to the end to gain a foothold in the NHL, to play in this league. As long as I have the slightest chance to play in North America, I will keep it. I am my dream. But it’s too early to say where I will be next season.
