“Ufa is my second home” – the American forward on a new contract with “Salavat Yulaev”

american striker “Salavat Yulaev” Alexander Khmelevsky said that Ufa had become his second home, so he decided to extend the contract with the club.

The new deal with the striker is for one season, the contract was announced on Monday.

– It was a pleasure for me to play for Salavat Yulaev this year. We have a very good team, a real team. I saw that the KHL is a big league, for me moving to Ufa was a big step in my career. Glad to be there, I added as a player, I liked everything: the partners, the organization, the club.

For me, Ufa is not just a city. It’s my second home, I feel very comfortable here. At first I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t know the team, but now that I’ve been living for 7-8 months, the fans have fallen in love with me. It warms my heart, they recognize me. I respect our supporters, they create a great atmosphere in the stands.

– You extended the contract, despite being eliminated in the first round. Do you believe in the potential and the future of the team?

Yes, I believe in the team. It motivates me. I want to go back to Ufa, go as far as possible and win the Gagarin Cup. Believe us, we have it all. Now I understand how hard it is to get to the top, I had a really good experience in the playoffs. But I want to go back to Salavat Yulaev, I like this club. I want to play for Viktor Nikolaevich Kozlov, – the club’s website quotes the words of the hockey player.

Last season was Khmelevsky’s KHL debut. In the regular season, he played 67 games and scored 48 (26 + 22) points with a utility indicator of +13. In the playoffs, he scored four goals and provided one assist in six games of the club’s losing streak with the Admiral (2–4).
