Bykov commented on Zhamnov’s appointment as head coach of HC Spartak

Former head coach of the Russian national hockey team Vyacheslav Bykov spoke about the appointment Alexei Zhamnov to the position of coach of the “Spartak” of Moscow.

Spartak announced on Tuesday that Zhamnov has become the team’s head coach, replacing Alexei Zavarukhin in his post.

— I wish Alexei good luck and success as head coach of HC Spartak! A great opportunity to transfer your knowledge and experience to hockey players in the fight for the Gagarin Cup, – said Bykov “Championship”.

Since 2021, Zhamnov has been the head coach of the Russian national team. Under his leadership, the team won silver at the 2022 Olympics.

This year, Spartak failed to reach the KHL Fonbet Championship playoffs for the first time since the 2016/17 season, finishing ninth in the Western Conference table. This season, the Muscovites have changed their head coach twice: in place of Boris Mironov, the team was led by Igor Grishin in November 2022, who was later replaced by Zavarukhin.
