Russian national hockey team head coach Alexei Zhamnov has not informed the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) about his decision to take over Spartak’s head coaching job, FHR told TV game.
The Moscow club announced on Tuesday the appointment of Zhamnov as the team’s head coach.
– Zhamnov’s current contract with FHR expires on June 30, 2023. Zhamnov has not informed the Russian Ice Hockey Federation about his decision to take the post of head coach of Spartak, FHR learned about his new place of work from posts on the club’s official website.
In the current 2022/23 season, Zhamnov led the national team in an international tournament – the Channel One Cup. The FHR coaching council deemed the result of the tournament unsatisfactory, the FHR told .
Zhamnov has coached the Russian national team since 2021. Under his leadership, the team won silver at the 2022 Olympics.
