Offensive “Metallurgist” Nikolai Goldobin said the bus trip for two first-round playoff games against “Motorist” rallied players and helped win.
On Tuesday, Magnitogorsk beat Avtomobilist on the road in overtime (4:3) and reached the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference, where they will play with Avangard Omsk, Goldobin scored the decisive goal.
Tell us about your overtime goal.
– Wordless. Brendan Leipsik did everything, entered the zone and passed me. I saw that a defender was hanging in front of me, tried to throw, closed my eyes – and flew. I didn’t play very well the whole series, the puck didn’t fly. And then such a winner in overtime.
– What was the key when the score was 1:3?
We haven’t stopped playing. We have made a lot of returns before, we have character. We are cup fighters, which helped us.
– Why did Metallurg win three extensions in the series?
– We waited for our moment, played correctly, without faults and did not give chances to the adversary. Successful goals flew in the first two overtimes. But still, a goal is a goal, all well done.
— Did the fact that Metallurg went twice to Ekaterinburg by bus united the team?
– We had a good ride on the bus, we stopped at a gas station, we ate delicious hot dogs, drank a delicious Coke, so we recharged and rested a bit. Here’s the result.
– What can you say about the next opponent – Avangard?
– Classic Derby. This is the third time we have reached the playoffs at Avangard, now we are 1-1. Interesting game, two great teams. Let’s see how it goes, – quotes the words of Goldobin “RB Sport”.
