Game 3 of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals Series was supposed to answer the question of whether the championship fuse remained with “Tampas”. Two straight losses in New York have raised doubts about a successful campaign for the third Stanley Cup.
The rivals started cautiously, but in the second period the game opened up and the strikeouts helped that.
In one episode, a veteran Corey Perry hit in the attack on the mask Igor Shesterkin. The guard fell as if he had received a blow from a club. Perry went to the penalty box, and in the majority Mika Zibanejad on the second attempt he hit the target and into the net.
Very soon Riley Nash fell back on Shesterkin, and again, “Tampa” remained in the minority. And again played a lightning combination Artemi Panarin — Zibanejad. Andrei Vasilevsky faced the throw, but Kreider was the first to rebound — 0:2.
Two goals after two fouls on Shesterkino! How can we not remember Panarin’s joke after the first game that Shesterkin only had to score goals.
Things were going badly for Tampa, which is 0-3 in the upcoming series, but now they’ve won the majority. Even before the break, Kucherov hit Shesterkin at a sharp angle between the pads, and at the start of the third period Stamcos tied the score with a touchdown shot. And here, too, Tampa oversold.
And then the hosts completely took the initiative. The shots on goal “Rangers” followed one another, the guests are clearly tired and hope for a chance. And he introduced himself to them. Nikita Kucherov lost the puck on the blue line and fleeing Zibanezhad was only stopped in violation of the rules so he broke his lip – 4 penalty minutes. True, the New Yorkers failed to create anything worthwhile, and twice they also missed counterattacks, one of which ended in a violation, after which the lineouts have equalized. He went into overtime, but Rangers missed the tie by just 42 seconds.
The first three of “Tampa” created the winning goal: Kucherov received a pass from Stamkos and, with his back to the goal, gave a hidden pass to the oncoming Palat from behind. It was Shesterkin’s 51st shot on goal in the game as Rangers reached 30.
A voluntary victory by Tampa can change everything in this series, as everything was changed in today’s game. Game 4 is Wednesday night again in Florida.
