The NHL Press Service notes that Ovechkin now ranks third in goals scored in a single season by a hockey player aged 37 and older. According to this indicator, the Russian has caught up with the legendary striker Gordie Howe. He scored 39 goals in the 1967/1968 season.

Only Johnny Butsik (40) and Howe (44) showed superior performance.
