for hockey “Torpedo” in Nizhny Novgorod, the whole city is jubilant, so the club hall cannot accommodate everyone. For those who could not buy tickets for the match, Nizhny 800, together with the hockey club and Nebo TV and Radio Company, organized a fan zone where you can watch the broadcast of matches at home and on the exterior of the Torpedo team on the big screen.
“Torpedo had a phenomenal regular season, and given the excitement, we decided to organize fan zones for the fans,” said Oleg Berkovich, deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region. — It’s great that we were the first in this playoffs to establish such a trend, and other KHL teams have picked up on our experience in hosting games en masse. In each of our fan zones, we see an incredible atmosphere of unity between the team and the city. We see how strongly the fans support the team, and they will undoubtedly be even more after such a season.
In addition to watching the matches, fans can expect an entertainment program with a host, which begins half an hour before the match, club giveaways, a themed photo zone, a performance by the support band Torpedo STARS and Torpedo mascots.
Fans watching the playoffs in the fan zone note that the cheering atmosphere here is no worse than in the arena. Others draw attention to the large number of young fans and young people, which is symbolic: Nizhny Novgorod was chosen as the youth capital of Russia in 2023, and the work of the fan zone is organized under the auspices of this status.
The first in the last seven years, Torpedo’s entry into the quarter-finals of the Gagarin Cup was celebrated by the whole city, and it was the fan zone that became the epicenter (Torpedo released on the second lap on the road).
Given the large number of fans attending the mass viewing of the playoff matches, a second fan zone was opened in another part of the city for the Gagarin Cup quarter-finals with SKA Saint Petersburg. Now fans can choose a site closer to home. Plus, entry to both fan zones is free.
“The Torpedo game this season caused an incredible stir in the region, and in the whole country,” said Alexander Kharlamov, general manager of the Nizhny Novgorod club. – We understand that the stands in Nagorny cannot accommodate everyone, but fans should experience this time of year in the most lively and emotional way possible. Therefore, a large number of buses were allocated for away matches, and fan zones were organized in Nizhny Novgorod, which immediately became the center of attraction. They have already been visited by thousands of residents of Nizhny Novgorod who brilliantly supported the team, loudly, in a great friendly company. Interest in the fan zone turned out to be so high that not everyone could be accommodated, and it was decided to connect an additional mall in another part of town. This is a unique experience that appealed to both active fans and ordinary residents of Nizhny Novgorod who are interested in the game!”.
