President of the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) Vladislav Tretyak received the Order of Alexander Nevsky, according to the organization’s website.
The award took place in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin No. 354 of June 6.
“The FHR team congratulates Vladislav Alexandrovich on a high state honor – another recognition of his outstanding services to the fatherland,” the federation said in a statement.
Tretiak has been the head of the FHR since 2006. Since then, the Russian national ice hockey team has become world champions four times and won the Olympics once (2018).
The Order of Alexander Nevsky is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation, holding positions in the civil service, for special personal services to the Fatherland in state building, many years of conscientious service and results high achieved by them in the performance of their official duties, in strengthening the international authority of Russia, the country’s defense capability and economic development. , science, education, culture, art, health protection and other merits, as well as citizens of the Russian Federation for their high personal achievements in various sectors of the economy, research, activities socio-cultural, educational and other socially useful activities.
