Russia and Belarus extend hockey suspension

The aggressor country and its main servant cannot compete in international competitions until 2025.

The IIHF extended the disqualification for Russia and Belarus. It was found that these countries will return to international hockey no earlier than 2025. This is stated on the official website of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

We noticed earlier that it was reported that the national teams of the aggressor countries of all ages may return to the world championships from the end of 2023. However, due to the fact that neither Russia nor Belarus wants to stop the war in Ukraine, it was decided the IIHF to extend the disqualification.

The statement says that the Russian national teams, together with their main minions, will not return to big hockey in 2023 and 2024. At the same time, the official reason is tactfully called not a full-fledged invasion against Ukraine, but “security issues.”

Thus, the sanctions were extended, and all Russian and Belarusian teams of all ages were suspended from participating in world championships, and the countries themselves were suspended from organizing tournaments.
