“Today, without exaggeration, a real era ended. Vasily Koshechkin is the best example of professionalism, a real athlete with a unique character and fighting qualities. The way Vasily prepared for each new season deserved the respect, which is why his career lasted so long by hockey standards, and in this respect he was an example for the whole team – both young players and accomplished hockey players.
On behalf of the hockey club “Metallurg” and on my own behalf, I want to express my deep gratitude to Vasily for the years spent in Magnitogorsk and for those victories that would not have been possible without him.
Gagarin cups, gold of the Olympics and the world championship – everything that can be won in our hockey, Vasily deserved it. We hope that in the future he will have a new stage in his career – training, and he will be no less successful. In any case, we are not saying goodbye to Koshechkin – the banner of the goalkeeper’s name will definitely appear under the arches of the Metallurg arena, so we will see him again in the new season, ”said the press service of the club citing Gomolyako.
