Chinese “Kunlun” next season KHL will play home games in Russia, according to the club’s social media.
The Chinese club note that they intend to discuss with the league the possibility of hosting some matches of the 2023/24 season in China.
– Returning to China remains a priority for Kunlun, however, after careful study of the situation and lengthy consultations and negotiations with all participants in the process, the club has come to the conclusion that such a decision would be premature at this time .
China still maintains restrictions on air travel, in particular a ban on dual-checked flights, as well as quotas for issuing visas to Russian citizens. There is every reason to believe that the situation will change for the better, but, most likely, this will happen already during the hockey season. Under current conditions, a move to China would cause many logistical difficulties and additional financial costs for all participants in the KHL Championship. Against this background, the club’s management decided to stay in Russia for one more season.
The club remain hopeful of returning to China in the 2024/25 season. At the same time, we plan to discuss with the KHL the possibility of China hosting some matches in the 2023/24 season, presumably with teams from the Far East.
The channel and the KHL and KHL Prime premium channels broadcast live KHL playoff games. Broadcasts of the meetings are also available on the websites sportbox.ru and matchtv.ru.
