Ukrainian national ice hockey team beat the team in sparring clubs in Latvia — 6:3.
The team of Vadim Shakhraichuk held a test match on the day of their arrival in Tallinn. The first period was held in an equal fight, the blue-yellow team managed to open the score after winning a throw-in in a foreign zone.
In the second period, the Latvians equalized with a rebound from the player’s skate. However, after that, the Ukrainian team completely seized the initiative, scoring four goals. In the final period, Shakhraychuk’s wards brought the match to victory. Ilya Korenchuk and Daniil Trakht scored a double in the fight.
After regular time, by agreement, the teams played overtime in the 3v3 format, as well as a series of five shootouts. The Latvians were luckier in the final throws – 2:1.
Recall that earlier the Ukrainian national team beat Hungary twice in preparation for the 2023 World Cup. On Saturday, Shakhraychuk’s team will play the second friendly against the national team of Latvian clubs, starting at 17:00.
