Athletistic/Hockey. Anton Zelenov, the first coach of Rangers goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin, appreciated the student’s game.

“When Igor was 13-14 years old, I had no doubts that he would reach a very high level. So it’s not surprising. In principle, he can play in any position. And he was even given this opportunity, but he came back to goal. Modern goalkeepers need to be able to play with a stick and with Shesterkin they have always worked on this element during their careers,” said Zelenov.

Shesterkin has been with the New York Rangers since 2019. This season, Igor has 53 regular season games and 93% of shots returned. In the playoffs, Shesterkin played in 18 games with a 92% save rate.
