“If it weren’t for the political situation, they wouldn’t have found fault with the Rossiya t-shirt during the Ice Hockey World Cup” – Zhurova

Without the current political situation, a T-shirt with the inscription “Russia” would not have been criticized during the match of the Hungarian national team at the World Hockey Championship, a deputy of the State Duma, a champion Olympic, told Svetlana Zhurova .

Earlier, Ilta-Sanomat reported that a fan of the Hungarian national team came to the World Hockey Championship game against Sweden wearing a T-shirt with the inscription “Russia”. Stadium security asked the fan to remove his T-shirt, he complied with the request and continued to watch the game.

– There are certainly similar rules in the Olympics – if two teams are playing and the fans come with flags, posters from another country, they are asked to remove them. I don’t know if there is a similar rule at the World Hockey Championships, but I remember similar incidents at the Olympics. At the same time, I think that ten years ago the organizers would not have objected to a T-shirt with the inscription “Russia”, which does not play in this match. It is clear, since you are a fan of the Russian national team, you are the whole tournament, you go to all matches with your team’s t-shirt and do not put on other teams’ t-shirts. If not for the current political situation, they certainly wouldn’t find anything wrong with the Rossiya t-shirt,” Zhurova told .

In the stadiums of the World Cup, which takes place in Finland and Latvia, the symbols of Russia and Belarus are prohibited. Russian hockey players suspended from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine. The 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship takes place in Finland and Latvia from May 12-28.
