Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev told that he would accept with open arms a Hungarian fan who was not allowed to watch the World Hockey Championship game wearing a pro-Russia t-shirt.
Earlier, the organizers of the 2023 World Hockey Championship in the match between Hungary and Sweden demanded that the Hungarian fan take off his T-shirt with the inscription “Russia”. As a result, the Hungarian inspected the end of the meeting, removing the mentioned T-shirt. The match took place on May 18 in Tampere and ended with the victory of the Swedes with the score 7:1.
– Crazy event. At the World Cup, where Russia and Belarus do not participate, ban the symbols of these countries, and leave Ukraine. We must not forget that Ukraine is also a party to the conflict. Amazingly, this was done by a citizen of Europe, an independent European state. He has the right to walk in what he wants and how he wants. The prohibitions go as far as idiocy, it has nothing to do with sport.
If I was a fan, I would file a complaint. I think he will turn to us, to the Russians. We will accept it with open arms, extend a helping, friendly hand and provide all kinds of support. The person came in clothes they were comfortable in. I appreciated his act positively, he impresses, – Svishchev told .
The 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship takes place in Finland and Latvia from May 12-28. The national teams of Russia and Belarus have been suspended from participation in the tournament by decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
