National team Kazakhstan won the team Slovakia during the match of the fifth round of the group stage of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2023.
The main time of the meeting of group B, which was held in Riga, ended with the score 3:3 (0:1, 3:0, 0:2). Roman Starchenko, Valery Orekhov and Evgeny Rymarev scored goals for the Kazakhstan national team. Patrick Koch, Richard Panik and Pavol Regenda excelled among the Slovaks.
In the series of shootouts, Kazakh hockey players turned out to be more accurate, Rymarev scored the winning shootout.
In a parallel Group A match, the national team Germany beat the team in Tampere Austria – 4:2 (2:1, 0:1, 1:1). Niko Sturm scored twice for the winners, Parker Tuomi and Wojtek Stachowiak also scored. In the Austrian team, Bernd Wolf and Lukas Haudum scored.
The Kazakhstan national team has four points and is sixth in the Group B standings, the Slovaks (5) are fifth. In group A, the Germans (6) are on the fifth row, the Austrians (1) close the table.
The national teams of Russia and Belarus have been suspended from participation in the tournament by decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
