In the second period, Wojciech Stachowiak (receiving assists from Justin Schutz and Moritz Müller) increased Germany’s advantage, and even Lukas Haudum’s puck late in the game didn’t affect the result. Also, in the dying minutes, Sturm scored his second goal, increasing Germany’s lead to two goals.

Austria suffered the fifth out of five possible World Cup defeats. The German national team won the second consecutive victory after three defeats.
