Athletistic/Hockey. On May 20, the Ice Hockey World Championship match took place in the Arena-Riga between the teams of Kazakhstan and Slovakia, rivals in group B. The Kazakhstan team won this match. Regular time and extra time ended with the score 3:3, and in the shootout Kazakh hockey players were more accurate.
The first period begins with a goal from Patrik Koch (an assist from Marek Grivik) which gives the advantage to the Slovak team. However, Kazakhstan hockey players were able to respond with three goals from Roman Starchenko (assists from Evgeny Rymarev and Samat Daniyar), Valery Orekhov (assists from Nikita Mikhailis and Starchenko) and Evgeny Rymarev (assists from Mikhailis and Starchenko ), giving the team a comfortable advantage. However, Slovakia managed to bounce back in the third period: Richard Panik (assists from Grivik and Koch) and Pavol Regenda (assists from Grivik and Michal Ivan) scored two goals. The decisive shot in the shootout for the national team of Kazakhstan was made by Nikita Mikhailis.
