Athletistic/Hockey. On May 20, the ice hockey world championship match between the national teams of Latvia and Kazakhstan, who play in group B, took place in the Arena-Riga. The Latvian team won a landslide victory with a score of 7:0.
The first goal was scored in the 16th minute of the majority match, its author was Rihards Bukarts, assists from Mārtiņš Dzierkals and Arturs Shilovs. After 1.5 minutes, Oskar Batnea (Kristaps Zile) increased the advantage of the Latvian team. In the second period, Latvia scored three more goals, the scorers were Dzierkals (Batnia, Bukarts), Rodrigo Abols (Kaspars Daugavins, Rudolf Balcers) and Miks Indrashis (Bukarts, Ralf Freibergs). In the third period, Latvia finished Kazakhstan with two more goals from Daugavins (Balcers, Abols) and Abols (Balcers, Daugavins).
The win was the Latvian national team’s fourth consecutive win at the 2023 World Cup. Kazakhstan were beaten after the previous win over Slovakia.
