Florida captain Alexander Barkov says Russian goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky deserves praise after the NHL playoffs, he’s the backbone of the entire Stanley Cup team.
The Florida Flames beat the Carolinas 2-1 in Game 2 of the NHL playoff semifinals on Saturday. The Russian stopped 37 shots and was recognized as the best player of the game.
Bobrovsky is amazing. Every game, every day, people are talking about him. And he deserves even more. He is our mainstay, Sergey gives us a chance to win every game. Whether it’s a game (with a difference) of one or two goals, it doesn’t matter – he helps us. He makes important saves and takes advantage of them,” Barkov quotes The Athletic.
Bobrovsky noted that he enjoyed the game every game.
– I’m enjoying it. I like to play hockey, enjoy this atmosphere. The arena here is crazy, it’s very cool to play here. Considering how hard the guys are working, it’s a great honor for me to be at the gate right now,” added Bobrovsky, quoted by the official NHL website.
In the series for the right to reach the final, Florida took a 2-0 lead. The teams will play their third game on May 22.
