National team striker Canada Joseph Veleno has been suspended for five matches from the 2023 World Championship for hitting an opponent, according to the press service of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
Hockey player in the match of group B against Switzerland (2:3) in the second period kicked the opponent. Veleno will no longer participate in the tournament, even if the Canadians reach the final. The team has two games left in the group stage.
