Bobrovsky is second in the list of oldest goaltenders to score the first Stanley Cup shutout

Russian goalkeeper “Florida Panthers” Sergei Bobrovsky became the second-oldest goaltender to record the first shutout of his NHL playoff career.

On Monday, Florida beat the Carolinas in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup semifinals 1-0. Bobrovsky saved 32 shots and was recognized as the game’s first star.

The Russian scored the first shutout of his NHL playoff career at the age of 34 years and 244 days. The record belongs to former US goalkeeper Tim Thomas – 35 years 340 days.

Florida leads the best-of-four series 3-0. The next game in the showdown is scheduled for May 25.
