National team UNITED STATES won the team Sweden in the final round of the group stage of the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship.
The main time of the meeting of group A, which took place in Tampere, ended with the score 3:3. The Americans scored Nick Bonino, Conor Garland and Lane Hutson, the Swedes – Leo Karlsson, who scored twice, and Timothy Lilliegren. Dylan Samberg brought the American victory in overtime. Early in the third period, USA national team forward Matt Coronato failed to convert a ball.
For the United States, the victory was the seventh consecutive in the tournament, the team won Group A with 20 points. Sweden (18) finished second.
In a side game, the national team Canada beat Czech Republic with a score of 3:1. The North Americans responded to Martin Kaut’s puck with accurate shots from Peyton Krebs, Tyler Myers and Lawson Cruz.
Canada is second in Group B with 15 points, while the Czech Republic is third with 13 points.
