Former SKA striker believes there are few players of Tolchinsky’s level in the KHL

Offensive Sergei Tolchinsky intended to replace in St. Petersburg S.K.A. top players who left the club, according to former team striker Vasily Kamenev.

On Wednesday, SKA announced the transfer of 28-year-old Tolchinsky, the striker signed a five-year deal with a salary of 77 million rubles per season. According to , Avangard offered the player to sign a three-year contract worth 240 million rubles.

– Tolchinsky had a good season when he won the Gagarin Cup with Avangard in 2021. Then, in a fit of joy, he spoke highly of CSKA, for whom he had played before. Then he apologized, but the word is not a sparrow, as they say. We must learn from this history. So a good player. Each season shows a stable level. Moreover, he can both give and score, he acts at the limit of the attack. He was one of Avangard’s top scorers. There aren’t many in our league right now.

– Does the SKA squad need to be seriously reinforced compared to last season?

– The St. Petersburg team is good. We need “one-off” acquisitions. After all, Yashkin is gone, Gusev is gone, they can part ways with Prokhorkin. These people will be looking for replacements. We have to take the ‘best’ players because SKA have lost their leaders,” Kamenev told RB Sport.

Last season, the 28-year-old forward scored 63 points (21 goals + 42 assists) in 82 regular season and KHL playoff games. The striker has been playing for the Omsk team since 2020 and won the Gagarin Cup in the 2020/21 season.
