Athletistic/Hockey. On Thursday, May 26, the quarter-final matches of the Ice Hockey World Championship took place. In one of them, the Latvian national team beat the Swedish national team with a score of 3:1.
Thus, the Latvians reached the semi-finals. For the first time since 2019, the national team of one of the countries of the former USSR will enter the top four teams in the world. Then the Russian team won the bronze medal.
In 2021, Russia were eliminated from Canada in the 1/4 finals, while Belarus, Latvia and Kazakhstan failed to overcome the group stage. In 2022, Latvia and Kazakhstan failed to overcome the group stage.
